Ever imagined writing scripts for Hollywood films? Your name rolling up with the credits at the end of the latest blockbuster? Meet Vatau German of Irvine California. This big screen writer is living the dream!
How did you find One Samoana?
Through one of my friend’s from high school. Funny thing is, he tuned me in and then he tuned out. Said he wasn’t getting any response from anyone.
What’s the funniest/craziest thing you ever witnessed/did in the village?
Craziest thing would probably be to start a Screenwriter’s group. I didn’t think anyone would be interested…but oh was I wrong.
What’s an experience you had that made you SO proud to be Samoan?
Again, going back to the group, which by the way if there are still writers out there, is called “Island Writers,” would have to be witnessing all the raw talented writers in our culture. We got us some mad skills!
Tell us about your passion/hobby/work
My passion is writing screenplays. From the page to the screen! For me, it’s envisioning a movie played out in my head that I have to get out and I do that writing screenplays.
Whats a project you’re working on that you want everybody to know about?
Well, we’ve had a successful run in our 1st screenplay competition a while back, and hopefully there will be a 2nd screenplay competition in the near future.
Your final thoughts and shout outs:
To my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the opportunity to be able to share what I know with other interested writers.
HGG Notes about Tau:
* Tau uses this photo of her beautiful mother dancing the taualuga (right) as her profile pic. I think it’s cute!
* Visit Tau in her faleo’o.
* …He strains to pull the tattered ie lava-lava around his scrawny frame, only to have it slip through his arthritic fingers. It’s a line from one of Tau’s character exercises. Love it!
* Think you might be a screenwriter too? Join Tau’s group in the village: Island Writers
