In that address he discussed the idea of "Family as a source of love" and discussion around "fa'alavelave". He talked about the tsunami has created the ideal context for reassessing faalavelave. But omg i totally agree with your post. I am planning my wedding for next year with a raro husband to be and boyy it is alot to try and explain the samoan invite list & why i have to invite the whole church to our wedding even tho we don't actively attend lotu .. the only answer i can come up with is because i'm a samoan girl who was raised in a samoan church! lol .. so there goes 80+ people on top of the already big wedding list. We too are thinking of monetary gift with my parents who think it is a good idea but i'm too shy to put it on the invite as i don't want to have any guests (church people in particular) thinking that we are asking for money.
